Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

Michelle at thr fron desk is experienced fast and efficient. She saves me one thousand dollars on parts. I had my catalytic converters replaced and they gave me a tine quote yet had my car ready an entire day early. This are skilled laborers. I also brought ny car back in to replace a simple part and they noticed my brakes were run down and replaced them. Another shirt turnaround. This place is very busy ans yet they still have fast turnarounds!

Amazing service! They were knowledgeable, competent, and very straight forward with their services and pricing. I brought in my car and they were able to diagnose the problems, give me a VERY reasonable estimate, and had all the approved work done in incredible time! I had a crazy schedule and they were willing to work with me to get what I needed and get back on the road feeling safe. I’ll be coming back to them for any issues from now on, and I strongly recommend you do the same!!

My Daughter had some issues with her car and we had it towed to the shop. I am all the way in Philly but i appreciated the fact that they called me when asked to explain exactly what was going on. They gave me honest recommendations as to what was needed and did not try to sell me on things that weren't needed. I appreciate all the work they did and the personal care they took with us.

I have been taking my 2008 Hyundai Veracruz to Michelle's Ultimate Car Care (9901 4th Street North, St. Petersburg) for about two years now, and I can confidently say they are the most honest auto repair shop I’ve ever dealt with. Michelle, the owner, along with her daughter Heather, run a truly family-owned and operated business. From day one, their mission has been to create a repair shop where women especially can feel safe, respected, and never taken advantage of. They only hire honest, trustworthy mechanics, and that integrity shows in every interaction. Every repair they’ve done on my vehicle has been top-notch and completed exactly as it should be — no shortcuts, no unnecessary add-ons, and no inflated labor charges. Most recently, my Veracruz threw a check engine light and started jerking during acceleration. After scanning it myself and seeing a P0306 code (cylinder 6 misfire), I had it flat-bedded from Clearwater and dropped off overnight. First thing the next morning, Heather had her mechanic diagnose it right away. Within a couple of hours, she called to explain that it was simply one spark plug and one coil. The total? $248. Completely fair and transparent. I also aske
